Wahoo- Fastest Fish in the Sea

Meet Us and Our Coaches

We are a USA swimming team with the advantage of being able to provide more one-on-one instruction because of our smaller size. We have the added benefit that we have a successful rec program that is a feeder for our USA team.

Our coaches coach with the philosophy that technique is key and that speed will come when strokes are swum efficiently! Our coaches also believe that the swimmer is most important. We want our swimmers to remain healthy, enjoy their swimming experience, learn how to conduct themselves appropriately in all situations, and most importantly, excel in their studies.

We want our swimmers and their families to feel like our family, because we know we cannot accomplish anything without working together!

We also offer individualized swim lessons for children that aren’t quite ready to be on the team along with private instruction for swimmers on the team that would like extra work.

To learn more about how to join us, please contact us today! We look forward to hearing from you.

Charles Haverstick

Head Coach

Coach Charlie has been involved in swimming since 1974 when he began swimming competitively through his high school at age 16. He decided to push himself to become a top competitor by swimming both high school and USA practices everyday.

After graduation, he attended college on a swimming scholarship in Midland, Texas. While in college, he was asked to train at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Facility. Shortly after, in 1978, he got involved in coaching where he began teaching others the joy of swimming. He has even coached swimmers to the Olympic level.

After his competitive swimming career ended, as he got married and started having children, he decided to go back to college at the University of Texas- El Paso (UTEP) for his Masters at which time he competed on the college water polo team.

Charlie has the experience necessary to help your child set and achieve goals in a positive environment.

We are glad to have him as our head coach since 2005!

Casey Beck

Head Senior Coach

Coach Casey has been involved with swimming her entire life, her first time in a pool was at 3 weeks old and has practically lived in the pool ever since.

She started competitive swimming in 1994, at age 9, on the Park Foot Hills rec team in El Paso, Texas. She still holds the city record for the 11-12 girls 50 backstroke (31.90).

After moving to Oklahoma in 1998, she competed for Inola High School, coached by her father, Coach Charlie. She qualified and swum at State all four years of high school and won Consolation Finals both her junior and senior years. Casey was also chosen for the All-State Team in 2004.

While in high school, she taught swim lessons to all ages at the Claremore Rec Center as a lifeguard. Casey continued on to swim for Drury University her freshman year of college, but had to quit due to an injury at which time, she transferred to the University of Oklahoma to finish her pre-med degree.

She has been the Assistant Coach for the Stingrays and the Wahoos USA team since January, 2011. In that time, the Stingrays won team trophies almost every season, including a Tri-State meet trophy and multiple “High Point” awards for individual swimmers, which were a first for our team!

Coach Charlie and Coach Casey, as partners, started the venture of becoming a coach-owned team in the fall of 2015.

Tina mostly does private swimming lessons in her spare time, while working on her real estate career.

Tina has become our early beginner coach permanently, as she has taught beginners off and on since 2004.

Her goals are to help your child achieve their goals while instilling a love for swim.

We are glad to have her on our coaching staff!
